Small towns by the Polish team.

Small towns in Europe are often not what they seem to be. These hidden jewels have a lot to offer in terms of tourist attractions. They may seem dull and boring at first, but a careful look uncovers their true treasures. Elblag and Frombork, located in the north of Poland, are no exception.
Of course, it's no mystery that in order to unravel the secrets of such towns (and earn some coin as well),  tourists have to be attracted to a seemingly unattractive town first. How is it done in Elbląg and Frombork then?

The first important things are the places of interest, such as monuments, museums or antique buildings, as well as their proper advertising. What good comes out of a prehistorical cave if no one knows its location? Frombork and Elbląg do that splendidly by placing road signs in various locations throughout both cities, informing the potential tourists about the whereabouts of certain structures like the Truso settlement, the  Museum or the Castle Hill in Frombork. We even have an app which runs us (literally) along the path of the Piekarczyk , visiting various places of interest in the city. Hotels, town halls - they all have handouts, fliers, maps, advertisements in the receptions. And what's beautiful about being lost or being unable to find those places of interest in such towns like Elblag or Frombork? Literally everyone knows the location of at least the majority of those places. There's no problem with finding statues or museums.

When a tourist from, let's say, Bilbao, wants to go sightseeing around Elblag or Frombork, then he's got to sleep somewhere, right? And that's the hotels' job. Fortunately for tourists, hotels in the described towns could easily serve as attractions on their own. They lure the tourists with promises of luxury and swimming pools, meals that feel almost royal, and then... the promises actually come to life, because hotels around Elblag and Frombork do provide excellent service. They are well known even outside of the voivodship, they promote themselves to the tourists from another countries, have good prices, the receptionists speak many different languages, they even organize bike trips and sightseeing trips! If a tourist comes to Elblag or Frombork, he doesn't have to worry about having no place to sleep.

The third important thing is the media. Handouts about antique buildings are cool, but they won't tell much about what's currently going on in Elbląg or Frombork. Luckily, both of the towns have several websites, a separate TV channel, another separate TV channel, forums, discussion groups - it would take hours to name all of them. A tourist, familiar with our language of course, can learn about the news in Elblag on Truso TV, find out what concerts are about to happen in local pubs, even buy an armchair on Portel.pl's marketplace tab. That's all because these towns do not only live in the outside world, but in the virtual one as well.

All of these examples show the exact way of promoting a small, but precious town like Frombork or Elblag. A handout here, a hotel there, and poof - a small town becomes too crowded to live in, all thanks to the tourists. Let me put it this way - Frombork and Elblag? That's where the tourist business is done right.
